Date: January 17. 2023
Weather: Sunny, clear sky, 44°F
Destination: Sylvensteinsee Damm, Obere Isar, Rißbach (GER / AT), Sylvensteinsee
Finally some cold days and a litte bit of snow...
Sooooooo I went out and hopped a bit all over the place, enjoying the amazing "winter view" of those familiar places.
What I was NOT prepared for:
Almost freezing off my fingers.
(My "camera" needs my actual fingers on the touch screen... and they are not completely "cold weather" proof)
Having to "tippy-toe" very carefully over huge areas being complete frozen over.
(Yes... I slipped once and fell. Adds to the adventure I suppose.)
First stop:
A few quick ones at Sylvensteinsee.
Again, I marveled in natures beauty and finished this trip with a big smile.
Now: Did I look for rocks?
A little.
Those areas have not been known for the greatest finds in the past and I freely admit this was not the focus of my trip. I wanted to see and document the changing scenery over the seasons... a few nice stone - and I simply did not come across anything really worth picking up - would have been an added bonus.
Hope you enjoy the pictures and get to enjoy a beautiful day outside for yourself!

First stop:
A few quick ones at Sylvensteinsee.
The "cold" blue, green, and white... the occasional fog drifting through the trees or over the lakes... It was a completely different atmosphere.
It felt ... mystical?
The image of a small wooden hut with a smoking chimney, deep in the woods just popped into my mind.
Second stop:
The little secluded sandy "beach" I visited back in June last year. The transformation was amazing.
The way in which the stones where covered in litte ice crystals, sunk into the sand, creating litte craters around them... I was blown away.
Nature is the greatest artist.
Third stop:
River Rißbach (GER).I tried to actually get to the waterfall and "Gumpen" area I discovered and re-visited in July and August last year...
just to find out that now the river Rißbach actually carries quite a bit of water in areas that where completely dry before.
So I enjoyed a litte "walkaround" as the views where well worth it anyways and... moved on.Fourth stop:
River Rißbach (AT).Revisited some areas I visited in October last year. Especially the wild stream that Rißbach transforms into in Austria made for some adventure and great views.
Some of the rocks where covered in a thin, almost invisible layer of ice from the fine spray of the wild water, so every step needed my full concentration.
And it was so worth it.
Final stop:
On my way back home, I made another quick stop at Sylvensteinsee, as the bright sun had created a completely different atmosphere.Again, I marveled in natures beauty and finished this trip with a big smile.
