I am in need of a 220 extension plug with an on/off toggle that I can turn my window a/c on and off with. I haven't been able to find one. Does anyone make one? Is there such a thing?
Thanks!

I can’t find what you want either, Tela.
McMaster-Carr has a 6-foot 20@ 220V cord with an inline GFI, but it’s a hundred and five bucks and you don’t want to use a GFI (test trip and reset) for normal switching duty.

OK, I asked my tool guy.
Here's his switch - of course it's not an instant, it has to be built into a box or could even be put into a wall.
As James said, you need to use heavy enough wire as well.
Leviton MS302-DS 30 Amp, 600 Volt, 2-Pole, Single-Phase Single Throw AC Manual Motor Controller,
Suitable as Motor Disconnect, Non-Grounding - Black ( Amazon description in case link doesn't work)

Thanks, James. Makes sense. I am chicken shit when it comes to electricity. I'll have to get DH to do it. I can’t find what you want either, Tela. Thanks for looking, Rich. I looked long and hard. I didn't think it would be so hard to find. OK, I asked my tool guy.

Very good. Like I said - I don't DO electricity, but I think DH could rig something. Problem is getting him to do it. LOL!

Silly question / comment - but nowadays a lot of window air cons come with a remote control. You might be able to order one if it's MIA
Just trying to think of an easy. Patty

Something is wrong with the panel. I absolutely hate electronic controls on some things. It's a fairly new a/c but it has issues and I don't want to buy a new one when I am trying to move. It has to be plugged in and unplugged to make it stop and go. We have to cut it off or the compressor runs too long, then we give it a break and plug it back in. Like I said- it's messed up. I'm afraid of getting hit by an arc.

Got it.
Here's something that might work.
I went & looked at our 220 V window AC & it has this type of plug, which is a 15 amp 220 v plug.
Technically you could use it as a timer , but it has a switch on the side
Amazon description : Grow1 Single Outlet Mechanical Timer 24 Hour Hydroponics Grow Light Timers Electrical Outlets, Universal Wall Plug 3-Prong Grounded Outlet, UL Listed, 240v

Good thing you include the description! Both links were bad. What is it with AZ links??
This is probably my best option, but I have a few problems with it. Like what if the compressor was coming on when it shuts off?

With my heater in the greenhouse, I turn it on MAX and let the controller control it. So I think it might work the same. Put the AC on MAX and just let the timer turn it on/off, OR just use the switch on the timer.
You'll figure it out.

Time clock is 15@, Tela. Is it an exact match for the plug on your AC? 15@ plug 20@ plug

How about this? Does yours have a GFCI plug on it? If not it should. Pressing the "Test" button will shut it down and the "reset" button will turn it back on.

Yes, it does have test and reset, but I did NOT know that. That could be the answer to my problem. I'll have DH try that tomorrow. I have company now.
