I just started one last night. In long work day mode but taking stretch breaks and doing a little grinding. Hope to get it done. 🤞

Not sure what didn't happen correctly, but here is the picture of the cab.

Hyacinths are my favorite flower too! Love the smell and the colors. I think your cab looks great! Such a nice even girdle!

Here is my entry for this month, some Poppy Jasper I recently dug from our claim. When I heard Lee picked flowers for this months theme, I knew I had no choice in the matter and had to cut some PJ from the claim lol. It was very hard deciding which type of poppy to cut, but the pattern in this one came alive once I started cutting the dome. Here is a pic of the rock the slab came from. This one was a backup option so I didn't take a pic of the slab before. (The first choice had a nasty horizontal fracture open up while grinding so it was abandoned)

Sorry to anyone if this posts twice - fighting the system today and it didn't seem to accept my first post. (At least it's not showing up in my profile or on the page.)
Wasn't happy with my rhodonite piece, so when this calibrated oval chipped off this afternoon it was a chance to experiment with a tulip shape.
The stone is a burro creek jasper that I slabbed earlier this week.
With any luck it came out looking tulipy!
It was thin slab, so the dome is an understated number. I hope you can see it in one of these.
and it seemed like I could get either the dome or the girdle in a pic, but not both. Hoping the girdle shows better here. It really does have one! (I've really got to work on my photography - I haven't got the skills to nail everything I need in one shot yet.)

victor1941 - I can definitely see the petals in resin like you're describing! rockbrain - Man you got that Amy Sage to shine bright!! agatewhisperer - It might have been a happy accident...but I really dig that shape! Great polish too! rocknewb101 - Nice job! I had never heard of chrysanthemum stone before your entry! I see similarities to the Google images! RocKingRuralMo - Although I liked the Rhodonite, the "tulip" idea was genius! Love the pattern choice you went with on the BCJ! realrockhound - Great looking cab and inside swoop on that Guadalupe Poppy Jasper!! taylor - I hadn't heard of Hyacinth Jasper either! Google pics make it look "similar" to Exotica! Great job! goldfinder - You've got some killer material in that claim!! Gorgeous PJ! WOW!!

Well an hour and 15 minutes to spare, pacific time anyway. Since it was my idea I fugure I gots to enter something. Funny, the tulip shape had crossed my mind too, but when one of the pointy bits broke off, touchy material, it became an egg. This is some stuff we found at Zippys at Quartzsite 2022, was labeled Chinese flower jasper but I suspect it's some kind of conglomeration of fluorite and other stuff, pretty soft. Literally cut it, dopless, in the shop tonight. Slab Side view Cab

khara - That looks flowery to me! Great polish on that beauty!! Thanks Jason. Ya, I thought it looked fairly flowery, flowery colors anyway. I dug through my boxes of slabs and pulled out the most flowery I could find to play with anyway. Oh and I stopped at 3000. Didn’t seem anymore work could really add to the polish. 👍

That’s some really pretty material Rockoonz It seems there are a lot more “flower” materials than I realized.

RocKingRuralMo - Although I liked the Rhodonite, the "tulip" idea was genius! Love the pattern choice you went with on the BCJ! Thanks! In my brain it resembled a meadow of wildflowers, but then again the rhodonite looked like flowers to me too until it was done. Maybe I'm just hallucinating flowers onto slabs these days. I blame the rock dust! It was a fun challenge anyway.

With that another contest full of beautiful cabochons draws to a close! I'm kind of blown away at the creativity on display across the board and I'm anticipating a very tight vote. Unfortunately I have to keep you all in suspense for a bit as I'm traveling today and should have the voting up by tomorrow morning.
