Nothing like jumping on the bandwagon AFTER the fact Jason! LOL Peta, sorry I didn't see this yesterday to chime in earlier. Big thanks to all the members who did weigh in. For what it's worth, the feedback number and the stock photos like that listing had, always make me think scam. I'm super glad you dodged the bullet. And even though the world is filled with POS's like that seller...it's sprinkled with some good folks like those on RTH! (Gives me hope for the rest of humanity! )

We all have lives outside of RTH Hubby said the user name no longer exists on ebay - sadly I'm sure they'll just change that and show up under another throw away account. But - I at least feel comforted by the fact that my instincts (which were confirmed by you all) were spot on in this case. I truly believe there are more good people out there than bad, but sadly one bad outweighs the many good - it shouldn't but it does.

Now I know all about budgets & all Peta, and this is a lot more than a used $500 machine. It's a lot less $ than a Genie & in my opinion is nicer for a couple of reasons-
First and foremost is the spacing between the wheels.
Second if the motor every blows- it's a easy swap, it's a standard off the shelve model.
Third is the water control.
Patty..... NOW, if I could find a 4" Pixie for $ 500 I'd be doing a happy dance.

Thanks for the suggestion, liveoak! I will look into it for sure. Hubby just texted me and said he'd help! Wowza! I like the easy motor swap lol - that's definitely a good thing!

I learned on a Genie a decade or more ago. Always thought I’d buy a Genie. But when I started shopping and comparing I ended up choosing the Kingsley North 6” for many of the same reasons already stated. I’ve had it since last September. I don’t have a lot of hours on it but am really quite happy with it. I do LOVE the wheel spacing. I also like the top fed and unrecycled water. I don’t grind my knuckles near as much as I did when learning on the Genie. Both are great machines though. I’d happily pick up a used Genie if I found a deal. I funded mine by selling stuff online out of the house. Just things we no longer used or needed. It took a while but I got there.👍

I'm sure I have plenty I could sell - that's a great idea. May start inventory this weekend. I'd sell the slant cabber for sure - although I have to say Hi-tech's customer service is top notch! I spent 20 mins on the phone with Jennifer yesterday talking me through different things I may be doing wrong - her suggestion to call, so that means a lot!

I hate scammers. I have bought a few of those too good to be true items on ebay, I have been lucky and always have received my money back but it is tied up for a while waiting on the refund process. Glad you didnt get taken.
I had a used Genie here but it sold last week, bad timing.
In my opinion the best machine made right now for cabbing is the CabPro8, it is an 8 wheel machine that comes in 6" or 8", external motor, fresh water supply, good wheel spacing, only uses DP wheels, LED lighting, nothing on the machine that can rust. Smoothest machine I have ever used, uses a similar bearing system as the old Star Diamond machines. 80, 100 Galaxy wheels, 280, 600, 1200, 3,000, 8,000, and 14,000 Nova wheels. It is made to order from a small company out of SLC. It is $3,000 for the 6" machine or $4,000 for the 8" machine. It is my biggest seller in Quartzsite and out of the shop.

I agree with those who say they like other machines than the DP ones. I have an old Titan, thinking about selling it. I really prefer pressure water feed to the wheels, the spitters are not very efficient. I also like fresh water rather than the "dirty" water provided by the spitters (OK, DP calls them geysers). I find I like a variable speed machine too, the Titan is just very fast for softer stones, I like to use a slower wheel speed on the softer stuff. I can add a pressure water system to the Titan but I can't slow it down.

I was going to sell mine when I got the KN6 Cabber, but I actually kept my slant cabber and have it as my dedicated 14k diamond paste on canvas "station". Plus, I still have all the disks in case I ever need to use it as a flat lap for any reason...but for now, it's all cleaned up since the 14k is without water.

I can add a pressure water system to the Titan but I can't slow it down. You represent the majority that don't like spitters/geysers. I'm in the minority because I like them. The pump on the DP machines require maintenance and the geysers plug. I replaced my system with an aquarium pump and larger brass geysers. When the DP is working at 100% it is better. Mine is adequate and consistent. I have never had a contamination issue with recycled water. I put fresh water in the trays when starting at 600 and save it off when I am done prepolishing and reuse it when I start at 80 grit. An overhead system is fixed over the wheels. The geyser system is moveable can accommodate different wheel configurations. I can put a two inch wide wheel on the arbor or 1 1/2. I can put two wheels on the arbors or three with spacers and it doesn't effect the geyser use. I put both geysers under a wheel. My stardiamond machine is 8 inches like a Titan and is high speed belt driven. The way to control cutting speed on softer material is to start on a finer grit.

Or, I just drop the speed on my 8" belt drive Raytechs which have infinitely variable speeds from 800-1725 RPM. Covington also made (don't know if they still do) an 8" machine with an infinitely variable speed belt drive. If you've never been able to vary your speed you don't know what you're missing. I can also switch from 1&1/2" to 2" wide wheels easily by simply changing the spacers on the shaft, no biggie.

I have a three foot shaft with a bunch of dividers in the machine. It is free standing. To change wheels I need to remove 4 bolts and take everything off the shaft and lay them out in sequence, remove the old wheels and replace with the new wheels and put everything back on the shaft. It takes an hour to replace a wheel or wheels. I discovered that with a top 80 grit textured wheel on my Genie, I can cut as fast as a DP80 on my 8 inch machine. The arbor started to bind on the star diamond, so I am not using it.
