CONUNDRUM GATORADE is supposed to make us strong. However, I can’t unscrew the two-part cap to drink the Gatorade to make me strong enough to open the Gatorade!
What to do? Used a rubber circle for better grip. Destroyed rubber circle. Ordered a device that said it could open just about anything. Couldn’t open Gatorade. Cap a wee too big.
I am feeling weaker.
Ordered two more bottle openers “for the elderly”. They are arriving in the morning. I hope I last that long!
How do you open Gatorade? If you use a device, please post photo. Thanks.

Pat, I sometimes have trouble opening Gatorade bottles too! I think some of the bottle caps don't get properly perforated enough so that you can easily twist it off without also taking your skin off of those ridged caps! Even Vince would have trouble with them on occasion. amygdule's suggestion of channel locks are what we used to open them.

Worth a shot! LOL Pat: * My first thought was to run a blade along what's supposed to be the perforated part to release the top part of the cap. But then you run the risk of the blade slipping...and having an accident! - So far, the channel locks seem like the best option. I'll be curious to see how the other two openers you ordered work out!

I use Vice Grip plyers for stubborn bottle caps.

UPDATE I have four new bottle openers. They all said they would do the job, or implied that they would.
HA! I’m returning all. The one that I could eventually make work, would not let go of the cap.
Daughter and friend came over and opened them all by hand.
I’m going to contact Gatorade.
I appreciate all your suggestions.

Can you trust yourself with a sharp knife and some bottle gymnastics? You could run a sharp knife over the perforation on the cap while you roll it along the counter.

We have a joke in our house whenever we are struggling to open something and rotating through various tool attempts. I say “how in the heck is an elderly person supposed to eat/use xyz? And the response is “they don’t”. So far I think we’ve eliminated half the stuff we open on a daily basis as things an elderly person could use. Ya, the packaging has gotten ridiculous. I have also used the powdered style, mixed with water in my own bottle. The name escapes me, I’ll update when I think of it.

I have this happen with chip bags - you need to use so much force to break the seal that once you do the bag explodes open.

Have you tried one of the under cabinet mounted openers? I installed one the other day as my wife's grip is getting rather weak. We make "eggbites" for our breakfast through the week. Eggs, cheese etc in tiny mason jars. We have plastic lids with silicone gasket. Cook them immersed in water with a souse-vide machine for an hour. They bubble quite a bit as the air is forced out even with the lid on tight. After they cool in the fridge the lid sucks in from the vacuum and they're very difficult to open. The under counter opener works well. We do have to put a dish towel on the lid as the little points bite into the cap. It wouldn't be a problem except we reuse them over and over. You just grip the bottle or jar, push up and to the back while you twist it.
