I think that's one of the nicest things about RTH, varied interests that people expose you to. I find it inspiring & glad people are willing to share it all, in one place.

Out digging as we speak. Was in at 5 am this morning. Dug around 100 lbs approximately 😂. Once home and washed up, I’ll post what I got.

jasoninsd Ok I have moved the 40 medium slabs to Polish in the UV-18 this morning, (call me a maverick but I resisted consuming a tablespoon of Borax, something told me that the oatmeal and blueberries would be better for me) Also moved the 20 large slabs to 600. Everything looking good. I emptied the coarse load with the 2 pound Palm Wood, looking good and it's back to coarse for at least another 7 days. I have also polished several flats of various pieces on the Vib Lap in the last month or so. Now if I can get my act together and clear off some of the debris from the upstairs painting/re-carpeting/sorting out old stuff and make some space on shuffleboard so I can setup my picture taking rig we will be getting somewhere. Supposed to be putting together a presentation I am giving to the Clear Lake Gem & Mineral Club for mid-August. It's going to cover "Collecting Arkansas Quartz". My procrastinating nature has put me a bit behind on the effort. At least I am not bored!!

Love that material! Oh...and I'm more of a maple and brown sugar oatmeal kinda guy...but I'm still glad you chose that over the Borax! LOL

The threads I am interested in don't do as well. My interests are: 1. Out in the hills collecting. 2. Identifying 3. Understanding how they formed. 4. the Astronomy, Geology, Chemistry, Physics of it all. Where do we go from here? That's 4 of my top 5's. I'll add that the tools fascinate me. Working rock as a raw material, and the art of shaping and polishing fascinate me. And I always have some hair-brained scheme on how to build the next tool.
Homo habilis, and all.

I love the thrill of the hunt, the experimenting with results and learning about the tools. I want to know how to fix them, how to use them. I don't think I'll ever be at the "building my own tools" phase though. I also love sharing the (limited) knowledge I have with others and encouraging them. I like to think I was a teacher in a past life; of course I was probably more like Mr. Garvey than Miss Frizzle, but you take what you get.

Be careful not to take anything I say with anything more than a grain of salt...or grit...whichever! Well, I already learned identifying hot & cold water isn't your area of expertise BUT I have learned from reading your cabbing comments. Hahahahaha I'm never going to forget that (and will probably top it at some point).

I would turn the hot water on full blast, but never the cold because I figured I didn't want to add any more cold water into the mix. It wasn't until...on a whim...I turned on the cold water...and it was the freakin' hot water all along! The "H" and the "C" were switched on the dials! LOL
