Some of those pieces look big enough to trim and maybe get a cab or two out of…

I thought I’d take this opportunity, and it seems quite appropriate, to learn the mohs hardness of these auction items. Looks like since this is a jasper, this would be around 6.5-7 or so on the mohs scale?
Oddly, I also found on mindat that there’s also a crystaline structure called Morrisonite that is just 2.5 hardness. Obviously not the same stuff. Probably shouldn’t throw it in the tumbler!

Patty Thanks Patty for getting it started! Thanks Dillon for your bid! Some of those pieces look big enough to trim and maybe get a cab or two out of… There are a few in here that can be trimmed and cabbed. Thanks for the bump! Thanks for your bid Chris! Morrisonite aka "The King of Jaspers", it comes from several claims above the Owyhee River out by Jordan Craters. It is usually about a 6-7 in hardness and comes in many different colors. These pieces are leftovers from culling the larger pieces out of the host rock. Tony

Morrisonite is amazingly tough, patterned and colored material! EDIT: I believe agate has been heat and pressure metamorphosed into Morrisonite.
