This was included in a special order I made from Kinesava rocks - what an interesting rock! Anyone have a thought to how that circle formed? I can see it on the other end of the rock too. As soon as I can find a big enough saw I'm going to slab it to see how it goes through. Pretty neat!

I’m in the process of tumbling it.

He is a good vendor. I am not sure how that circle formed though . . . 1dave ?

Lots of possibilities! Gas bubbles, buried eggs or other fossils, I'd have to know more.

1dave Any theories on why the moon's craters, and most of earth's presumably, seem to be head on impacts?

I really enjoy working with him because he always sends as much background on the items he sends as he can - he had no idea about this one though.

I'm thinking it's from Utah, but only because the guy who sent it is from there and his Dad was a serious rockhounder way back in the day. But other than that....I do plan on cutting it open because curiosity.

But other than that....I do plan on cutting it open because curiosity. Even "Gas Bubbles" have so many possibilities. When water gets hot enough to turn into steam it increases it's volume by up to 2,000 %! Example = the geodes of Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina. Dying creatures buried in mud emit gas. Example = the Keokuck Geodes. the Carbon in Buried plant debris joins with O in H2O to become Carbon Dioxide gas, especially in contact with copper or silver that acts as a catalyst.

Not saying that’s what it is, just a side comment, but sometimes I’ll get thundereggs that produce things like that (no agate inclusion). I call them “blunder eggs” 😂
