That plume is out of this world! Very nice. The tarantulas are another story . Fascinating, as long as they are on your arm and not mine...lol. Coming from someone who grew up (at least to age 15) in a country that boasts the most venomous of anything - the united states has ruined me as far as my bug/critter fears go lol. Used to have to use an outside dunny as a kid with redbacks at my head and possibly under the seat - never once worried...Thanks for sharing - they are quite pretty.

I have.. but it’s been years. They are so delicate that even a small fall could be death. Some of these once mature are $700+ so I don’t take the risk. I view them as living art essentially

Very beautiful Plume agate. I had a rose tarantula and emperor scorpion as pets in college. I used to hold the rose tarantula. Then all of a sudden it started getting aggressive, so I let it be.

You had me on the plume.... Normally, I hate spiders, but tarantulas are the exception. I like the curly haired one. Go play with a Goliath Bird Eater. Born mean and gets meaner as it grows. A good sized adult wants to ravage your face before it tries to eat you.

No prob, lol. I worked for an exotic animal whole seller for a bit. I had to go pick up the animals and feeders from the GA/FL state line, put them away a d feed them. Wanted a birdeater for years until a 3 month old one came in. Vile, VILE little creature it was. Damn thing was ready to attack every time I or anyone else came near its tub. Haven't wanted one since.

Well--beautiful! The center reminds me of a tree, maybe Maple, in autumn (fall) with the pretty colors...and it seems to me I can just make out the shape of the leaves! I love it.

I never got over my arachnophobia.
but some reason images and drawings don't set it off. Weird.
That being said, if a spider was guarding that agate...i was fighting it. Bare hands

Books are a great way to share, but colors double the price to print.

I have some very nice Carey Plume cabs. But here's a piece of rough I want very much to cab; However there's a little problem: I'll need to (very carefully!) cut a doublet. At first I thought of using black basanite. But on consideration I wonder how well the black will show off this basically red stone. I've tried using white howlite for other doublets but haven't been happy with the results -- they look odd and cheap to me. Any suggestions folks?

I’ve used a piece of basic white/clear agate before to beef material up. You could also quartz cap it
