My sister in MA was nice enough to pick out some slabs at a local rock show last weekend as a Happy Spring present for me.
I'm hoping someone can help me put names on them, besides Joe, Harry & Mary I know the first one is a Jasper- but any idea what flavor ? Mohs 8 ? Second one I believe is Crazy Lace Agate The third blue one also Mohs 8 ? I have no idea.
Any help appreciated.

Nice slabs! I believe the first one is fancy jasper and it's related to bloodstone. Very hard stone that takes a beautiful shine.

The first one is Fancy Jasper from India. Crazy lace is correct for the 2nd. I should know the 3rd one, but my brain is coming up empty. Hopefully somebody will know what it is. You have a really nice sister!

You have a really nice sister! Sometimes !
We have a joke in my house - she (or insert me or him, etc) can be kind, when they think about it .
Thanks for the ID, Robin & Tommy
Anyone for that blue # 3 ?

Do you think the blue could be Blue Onyx ? I looked at google photos & there was some that looked like it.

Unfortunately, my hardness test is VERY inaccurate. It's a cheap set from Amazon with rock specimens, so I can't ever take it as absolute. But I'll re-check. Thanks, Robin. Patty
EDIT - OK, I'll give a maybe my 7 (quartz) scratched it- maybe....

The thrid one reminds me of some blue quartz I got recently from the Rock Shed. Although mine doesn't have the banding that shows in the backlit pic.

The jasper looks like material coming out of India and billed as bloodstone. The banding in the blue slab is nothing I've seen, but could be dumortierite

Thanks for the input, folks. Learn new stuff every day- I somehow thought that dumortierite was more purpley. But I was just reading how dumortierite is another name for blue quartz.
Ok, dumortierite it is, which sounds more exotic than plain old blue quartz.
Thanks for the help, everyone. Happy Spring, Patty

It's definitely blue quartz. I see it all the time. I think it's from Brazil.

Thanks chris1956 , it indeed looks a lot like that, thanks for posting the photo. That one site I looked at said that dumortierite is another name for blue quartz. But I'm not so sure about it. Rock ID is very difficult for me. Thanks for the very positive ID, Tela. Ok, I'll stop arguing, Blue Quartz ! But it's up to you to talk to your own sister. You need to train her better

I didn't talk to my sister for over ten years. LOL! Of course, she didn't talk to me, either. But, we're over that. I'll have to school her now.
