I have been tooling around with the idea of improving my photography. Right now a macro lens isn't in my budget. There was an alternative strategy of using extension tubes. I didn't use anything but ambient light or support for the geodes. Equipment Prinz 135mm f3.5 Extension tubes Player-One Uranus-C camera Livestack in Sharpcap Pro 4.1 1)

Getting there. I've never used tubes before. But, I'm betting the pictures came out pretty good for using them.

I put in an order for a better 135mm. This lens is pretty crap, but as a proof of concept it presented some interesting results.
I use that camera for planetary imaging so its very low noise

I used to use tubes a bit. I used a shorter lens and got an adapter to reverse mount it. The idea is that the lens was optimized for a longer distance from lens to subject and a shorter distance from lens to film plane (pre-digital) With macro tubes you are reversing that. The subject is closer to the lens than the film.

Getting reverse adapter from certain lens front to m42 has been a challenge

It's an extension tube that fits between the camera and the lens. Just a hollow cylinder. They allow you to focus much closer to the subject and give you more magnifications. Typically they came in a set of 3 that were 3 different sizes. You could use them alone or combine for different lengths. There's a lot of down sides to them but they are very inexpensive.

Apologies, I was supposed to try again last night, but the moon was out and I was feeling to do some lunar imaging

Last night I got around to trying with better lighting and effort in placement. What do you all think?
