chris1956 what about something like a food saver bag, which is designed to handle heat? Can also get bags and jars that can use a much cheaper hand pump if you don’t have a vacuum sealer. Probably don’t need to worry about the sealing part, but those types of things are good for handling heat and avoiding sucking in more moisture while cooling.

I am not willing to contaminate my kitchen gadgets, but now I’m wondering how a dehydrator would work. Lower and slower while exhausting the moisture. Could help negate color changes but not sure if it would be warm enough to help with oil. Could be a good way to dry things really well before stabilizing, though! You can buy a small toaster oven for the slabs. They are realatively cheap. I got one when I started stabilizing with catus juice because you have to bake to cure it. I had one up north, had to find a ramping controller and thermocouple to put in it to prevent it overshooting the mark at lower temperatures, I tossed the oven when we moved since they're like $20 at estate sales, but the controller is still in a box somewhere. It was pretty affordable on amazon.

You need to get an oven thermometer to make sure you have the right temperature.
