Chalcedony, which can take on some very unusual shapes.

The Pink and Green smells like Crooked River, Oregon.

The Pink and Green smells like Crooked River, Oregon. Maybe the green is from algae growing in micro-cracks in the chalcedony, and the pink was what remained buried where the algae could not photosynthesize to grow. Algae would explain the smell.

And here I thought it was natural glass. It's gorgeous, though. I want to see it sliced and cabbed.

A tektite would be more uniform.
I have found chalcedonies like this out in the desert several times. Some examples:

I was joking about the smell of the Crooked River. Maybe realrockhound has an opinion about Pink and Green Limbcasts from Oregon I've found ocean tumbled pebbles with that texture before.

I thought you were being serious since I find mosses and algaes in chalcedonies all the time.

Could be a limbcast. Depends on region found. I think it’s just a weird chalcedony tbh

I keep coming back to see this. The color is phenomenal! What would produce that color? Small amounts of Chrome?
eta- It looks like chrysoprase, which is a chalcedony. So pretty.

Those are interesting. Are the voids from gas bubbles or something that weathered out?

I thought the same thing (chryosprase lookalike) I wonder where he found it? Might tell someone what it could be!

The pic adjacent to the metric ruler looks layered. Are tektites ever layered?

gravelgrazer Tektite would be about 6 on mohs scale of hardness. about the same as glass. Chalcedony has a hardness of 7. The outer part does not look like any tektite I have seen but similar to chalcedony. The white looks like chalcedony and the green looks similar to chrysoprase but could be other chalcedony variants. Good location helps. some type of chalcedony

I found it near Hampton Butte If found near Hampton, then strong possibility it’s a limbcast. That’s not the typical style of limbcast found out there, but I’ve seen all kinds of odd formations in the region.
