Here's what I picked up today from the Rock Show. Each pic contains the contents from a baggie. Each baggie cost either $1 or $1.50. clickable thumbnails Each slab here was $ .25. A bag of preforms for $5 A bag of blue lace preforms $5 closeup About 6lbs of various agates for $2 And then what I consider the prize of the day also for $5 back-lit All in all, a very good day.

Wow Stoner! Excellent haul! Any idea what the third thumbnail is? Don't recognize it at all. I can't believe the Blue Lace for that price or the outrageously nice slab of flame too. Y'all did great. You've got some good cabbin ahead of you.....mel

You still buying baggies from vendors on the street? Looks like you found some great stuff. I love all those preforms. I didn't know you could buy them like that.

Much better use for a baggie than a bologna sandwich. I would really like to score 10# of preforms.

Mel, I'm not sure what that stuff is. A paper in the bag said it came from the Eel River near Dos Rois, Ca. There were about 10 bags of preforms and I heard the guy saying he got these from an estate sale. He said the person who passed away had 5gal buckets of these preforms waiting to be put to the grinder. Some of the blue lace will end up in the tumbler, but there are alot of them that will make some nice cabs. Man, I can't wait for next year's show!

Oooooooooo man what a haul, that last one is stunning, you keeping it for display or ? That first pick looks like peanut brittle. ;D Ed, think of it, the prices might be lower tomorrow because they don't want to pack it up to bring home.

Ed-
Are the first one's Dino Dung (coprolites?) Kind of looks like it to me. Man I think there's a good reason that I've never gone to a rock show....LOL.
Looks like you had fun.

Hi Tim, the first pic is Stone Canyon jasper which comes from an area near Parkfield Calif. There was a booth at the show today that had a 30-40lb pile of Dino dung for sale. I should have taken a pic. If I go back tomorrow, I will. Cher, I usually go on the second day in the afternoon just for that reason. But after seeing what I was able to get today, I think it has it's merits to go early also. I think the best thing is to just go both days. The show is only a 10 min drive from my house.

Ed, great haul, now I know why you brought Susan along. I met both Ed and Tony around the club tables looking at rocks. Ed is pawing through the baggies of rocks, the tubs of slabs. The next thing I know Susan has all these baggies in her hand while Ed is looking at the preforms. I had seen the blue lace baggie, but the preforms looked a little small. Glad you grabbed it!
Sorry guys I didn't get to talk with you much, I had to keep chasing down the kids. But, I did find a slab of Guadalupe poppy jasper, a baggie with 2 decent slabs, 1 end cut and one really thin slice of Lavic jasper and a slab of jasper. The kids also found some goodies.
Shoot, I wish I could have checked out the dino dung. Oh well, next time.

Better than my show- Best I was able to muster (other than the freebies I got for correctly answering the kids quiz) was a $2 slab of unknown agate type material (that was the ladies quote)

I love that last picture with the eyeball peering through the "flames". Very demonic looking!
