Hi all. Well I picked up my pet wood today, and even though it wasn't 700lbs like the auction said, I'm still very happy with what I got. The biggest piece weighed in at 76lbs, a couple of 60lb pieces, I think 3 or 4 at 40lbs with the rest being 30lbs or less. I'll take more pics as I clean them up a little better. This is after just a quick rinse with the hose. So here it is. some of the smaller pieces Some close ups This one is to show the coloring, it's about 5"x3" And this one is a little bigger than a softball but it's got an area where a branch was at one time. Oh, and by the way, that Red Wing shoe is for size reference and it's a size 9. I just cut a cab from one of the small pieces, and man, this stuff takes a great shine. Here's the cab 30x22mm

Awesome stuff, that one with the knot in it is sooooooo cool! That's got some really nice color too, the oranges and creams ... you are going to have some totally cool cabs. WTG awesome pile of pet wood there.

I bet there is good slabbg under the part where there was that branch. Nice looking lot.
She should have given you a credit for the missing weight though. Didn't you pay around $2/lb? Thats a good price but does not reflect a lot of volume discount. Though I guess there is some premium for size, so what do I know.
Cheers

Stoner-
Wow, good job. That really looks like some excellent material. The cab is gorgeous and the one w/ the knot would be awesome after you slice off the overburden. Would that fit on your flat lap???
Gotta go, I'll talk to you later.

Hmmmmm, sounds like the seller did a side deal before you arrived. Nonetheless, that is an amazing haul!! You're gonna wear out the cabbing machine. ;D

No Hickoryite KD, all pet wood. I was just out playing with it some more, breaking some of it up and I think I have enough to start a 3lb barrel!

You might have enough to "crush" the 3lb barrel!

Wow Ed, imagine how many cabs you will get if you cab up that whole lot! Looks like an amazing bunch of wood at a great deal. Can't wait to see more. I relly like the piece where the branch once was too. Very unusual.

Well I got up this morning and went and checked out the "wood pile" a little closer. Wow. I counted 9 pieces that could be considered large stumps and a number of them that can be considered smaller stumps. I took one of the smaller pieces last night and cut some slabs off it and I'll post some pics later. In a day or two, I'll be posting pics in the buy, sell, swap section and will be offering the RTH members this wood at a very good price, and will also be selling some on ebay. I've been doing searches on google to try and find more info on this wood, but haven't had any luck yet finding anything that looks like what I've got. If anyone can tell me more about this type of wood, I'd appreciate it.
