Long ago I put aside a small peace of chrysoprase that I liked a lot. I wanted to make something special out of it. Today I decided what that special is going to be - my first silver ring. Dimension of the stone is 22x10mm. Thanks for looking. Zoran

Zoitka, I do silver for a living. Great job! Good centering, good level on the ring. Only thing missing on a ring that good, is miligrain on the bezel against the stone. The job on that ring, it would be worth it to miligrain the bezel edge. Great work. Was it a casting, or completely hand made. By casting, I mean from a wax you made. It looks great. I use a vibratory tumbler and 3mm ceramic pellets for a mirror finish. I used to use rubber wheels made for titanium, or platinum for mirror bright. I really like the design.

Z, that's totally and completely wonderful! Do you do this work with tools or do you have a magic wand? C'mon now, 'fess up to it. You got a genie in a bottle stashed in your workshop.

Zoran, your skill as a jeweler definately translates well into the realm of ring making. Once again, EXCELLENT work!

that is fabulous, Zoran, absolutely top notch!
nice to see Doc lurking around again...what is miligraining?
that is a hard shape for me to get right, Z, you nailed it perfectly. next time you make a ring, you should take some progress shots as you go along.
have you started to sell some of your work yet?

That is soooo beautiful Zoran! If only I knew how to do somethin' like that..
Doc what is the miligrain thing of which you speak? Kind of a design up against the stone maybe?
What a sweet ring!

Thank you all. You are great support. Doc, coming from you, it is a real encouragement, thanks. But, I am not too familiar with millgrain term. Is it "A look which is knurled, or has the look of small beads or ridges, such as the edge of a coin." Something like I did on this pendant but only on the edge of the bezel. If so, what kind of tools you use? KD, I did start to sell my silverwork, although my biggest "customer" is - my wife. You know, that customer is not a good payer. ;D But, I am not complaining. At least this way I have some of my silver pieces around and I can enjoy in them, and in my wife, even more (she is a lurker, you know) ;D. Seriously, I did manage to sell six pieces. Regarding progress shots I promise I'll take them, but you'll have to give me some time since I am not going to be much at home these days. Thanks, Zoran

Wow that is excellent. I think the stones shape and the ring design really show off the stone. Great work.
