I love dryheads! A scooped a few from the rock box the first time I had it and they tumbled up very nicely despite the "beware of vugs" warning that came with them.

Those are great! I love that stone. I inhereted some Dryhead from my dad. He went out there and collected some many years ago too.

Thanks Mel, That's really handy info, I have a lot to learn about agates, and I'm looking forward to collecting some examples of our native examples. The range and variance in the US is incredible, very exciting looking patterns and colour variations. I found a very small chunk of rough in the batch of Laguna agate I'm currently processing which is a fabulous champagne pink colour, with lots of orb like structures, it can't have been a very big nodule, but the colour and pattern is beautiful, just a little weak on contrast. Thanks for sharing the wealth (of knowledge!), this forum rocks!
