Patti: Our club has had several fieldtrips for agate out to Kanan Rd but I always seem to be busy. Some of the folks have fund some dandy specimens out there and after all these fires and this winters landslides it'll probably be a great area to hunt this winter.....Mel

Outstanding looking batch Mel. Nice assortment of rocks. It looks like you got a real nice polish on everything even with lots of different types! There's no way to pick a favorite, but I like the blue dumortierite(sp) and the poppy jasper in photos 3 and 4. Is that from the ranch or from somewhere else? I got a slab looking like that from ebay and the seller didn't know where it came from. Steve

Steve, Yes, all the poppy types in that batch come from properties around our ranch though each is from a separate dig location. Only thing we have on the ranch proper is a deposit of the Primrose Jasper which is the nodular red-pink poppy stuff. That particular type of dumortierite is the first of it's type I've tumbled and I really like it a lot. The blue is very intense and sparkley, and some of the lighter spots appear to be marcasite which takes a fine metallic polish. Very neat stuff!...Mel
