Hi Guys! This is a Snakewood heel I took out of the vibe today. I'm wondering what to do with it. It is 2 1/2" long, 3/4" wide and about 1/4 or a little more thick at the thickest part. Should I wrap it as is, shape it, or what? I'm thinking it's too nice like it is to do any shaping or whatever, but am wondering if it's too big and heavy for a pendant. What do you guys think? Curt

It's dangerous, it causes fever and nausea! Throw it away, if you could throw it over the pond to me it would be better! ;D
Great piece! Looking at the size you posted above, display piece or cab is the only options I see. and maybe a belt buckle.
Another Idea: looking at it, you might have two of them. In this case, you could make a knife.

Adrian That's a little far to throw something, it might break when it lands. Don't have 2, that's a front and back view. Curt

Tie a string to it and hang it around your neck. That'll allow you to judge if it's too big or heavy.

as nice as that looks right now, i think i'd toss it back into my rotary tumbler till it was all smooth, slightly smaller and easier to wrap and wear.

KD Part of it's beauty is the knarly outside. I didn't capture that with my camera. Heck, I'm lucky to get a picture that isn't blurry. I'm thinking it's going to be a specimen piece. Curt

I think it would look great as a wrap hanging on some leather. Raquel

I like the knarly stuff, lots of my tumbled stuff still has some of the outside still on it, I think thats part of the allure of that particular piece. Thats a beautiful piece. I would put it in the display case.........................Tony

That is a gorgeous piece...with incredible imagery, espceially in the second view. To the left orientation it resembles a great whale breaching the waters, but to the right there is a massive cat's head, jaws wide, about to pounce. If you tumble it smooth you will loose those images and much of the natural beauty of this piece.
Listen to the cab--what is it telling you?

Make a dark wood display stand, mount it standing on end gnarly side forward and enjoy the view. I know I am! Very nice piece.

That cab is saying, " Send me to Tonja." Very pretty cab. I'd leave it as it is.

Curt, that sounds pretty big for hanging around your neck. It would make a beaut of a specimen though.

Sounds like the vote is for specimen, which is what I really wanted anyway, just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks everyone for the comments!

It's telling me "Leave me alone and do NOT send me to Tonja" ;D
