Except for a few odds and ends it's finished... Here's the first 2 threads of the project.. Pt1forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=tips&action=display&thread=1151937503Pt2forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=tips&action=display&thread=1151939108My step dad and I built the Lexan hood but I'm thinking it will need to be re-done with a lift top. There are a few more things to do like shortening the feed motor shaft so that it will sit closer to the face and making a blade guard. Here it is finished up and waiting for a blade....I had an old end table that it fit on perfectly....it will be painted soon and casters installed. That's an old 7" blade i used to true up the clamp...looks pretty small on there huh!! I'm ordering a 12" blade tomorrow... Oh yea..almost forgot...my step dad was thinking that the clamp and feed jig was 'borrowed' from an old lathe that Sears Roebuck used to sell...go figure. Can't wait to clamp down the first stone. Thanks for lookin Dan

That came out great, nice job on the refurb. Love the detail painting of the pullyes and the start capacitor cover. Is the top hinged? It's funny you should say that about the old Sears Lathe because that was my first impression also. Hey, whatever works, right?

Thanks Ed and Mike~ It was fun to do. The hood is not hinged so I want to re-do it. I'll pick up a piano hinge soon....
Thanks again, Dan

Thanks again John~
Powder coat would be sweet and probably last forever.. I wonder how much it would cost to get it done at a bike or auto paint shop.
I started with a couple of coats of primer and then 5 or 6 coats of Rustoleum blue metalic... wet sanding (600) in between coats and then a couple of coats of clear. It came out a little streaky but overall I'm happy with it ...don't know if you can see the streaks in the picture.
It was my first attempt at a metal flake paint job..lol. I'll paint some flames on it later..hahaha. (jk)
I just ordered a 12" MK-301 blade .40 .... so I hope to be cutting soon. ;D
thanks,

Old Hickory~ I bought the saw used and the motor came with it. It looks to be a rottiserie motor from an old grill. I don't know what the RPMs are but I'll find out for you this evening... I'll have to time it and count the revs...no problem..I should probably know what the RPMs are anyway.
At first I thought that the feed motor might be bad and actually looked for a replacement online and at the hardware strores. Everything I found online needed a housing or modification to work with my setup...But, I did find a rottiserie kit with a motor that would bolt right up so if I ever need to repalce it i know where to find one.
I'll post the RPMs later....

know what i just noticed dan you gotta find yourself some wing nuts for the vise its alot easyer to adjust then a plain nut after they get all oiled up and i use and adjustable to grab one of the ears to get leverage to tightin down the vise,, so they work pretty fast and you can get it nice and tight

That's a great idea John... I'll have to get 'em before the blade arrives.

Well.... The blade arrived yesterday and boy am I disappointed...they sent the wrong arbor size. I knew it was going to be a problem because I ordered a 12" blade with 5/8" arbor and I even checked to make sure that they (MK) make one. I suppose that the wharehouse order picker just pulled the wrong one...oh well I'll just send it back and wait some more....

Thanks Xena, Jack (Yorkshire) and Jack (deepsouth),
You are all too kind! I haven't messed it up yet....still waiting for the arbor insert from MK Diamond. The blade insert should arrive this week (fingers crossed). I'll post more pics after I mess it up real good!!
