Not only are you in one of the mose Beautiful places here on earth but you go outside and dig Jade like that out of the ground. Sign me up! any good camping/hunting spots to suggest for someone traveling South through your area? We travel through periodically and it would be a nice place to stop.

Spaceman-
He actually picks it off the ocean floor while diving. I'm sure there's some digging, prying, praying, swearing, and other "ing" words involved there too.....LOL.

I'm green eyed too... those are just gorgeous! That "little" one in the palm of you hand is glowing so nicely, too!
Any tips on how to distinguish jade from the other green stones on the coast? Supposedly you can find jade (rarely) on Washington and Oregon beaches as well... but i have yet to find one I was sure was jade.

That's a great question and I hope we get some answers. I keep picking up green rocks in hopes that they are jade, but not only that, I pick up green rocks in general because I'd really like to find one that would polish well, and they hardly ever do. On this trip I picked up some that I hope are green jasper and will polish, we'll see.

this is one of Tony's polished Jade pieces. It's about the size of my hand. Pictures do not do this piece justice! I don't know much about this rock, so if you have any questions please ask Tony.

Here's another one of Tony's Jade pieces. This one is about the size of my fist.

One of Tony's slabs. Both are the same rock. Bottom picture is back lit.

I have a necklace with a teardrop shaped piece of jade made for me in the early 70s, by a dear friend who passed away about 5 years after he made me the necklace. He used to hunt for jade in the Big Sur area. There were several small coves between Big Sur and Esalen Hot Springs that were quite a climb to get to, but had wonderful jade. Thanks for the memory!

kad, I went with Tony on one of his jade diving trips, and I can verify that there are some steep cliffs to scale to get to the jade. Going down in the morning isn't so bad, but coming up in the afternoon, carrying equipment and the haul of jade is a real challange.

here's a few tumble polished pieces. They looked just like the "Jade for tumbling" pieces before I started them.
