Here's a nice but small piece of snowflake obsidian rough. The next time you see it will be in the Cabochon board!

If you get a cab with snowflake obsidian & there are no snowflakes on it, would you say it's just plain obsidian? I have a slab that has only about 5 snowflakes on it and the slab is the size of my fist

Well tweet- Snowflake is snowflake- Guess you could call your slab- snowflurries obsidian? Just make sure they are flakes (look closly at the design- the flakes are actually another mineral- the name escapes me at the moment)

when i see an obsidian without the snowflakes in, i call it 'pure obsidian'. i prize the pure type. it holds an edge better. and it's black. black goes with everything. including red tumblers and yellow plastic pellets. i have some sparsely flaked obsidian in the tumbler.
