Okay it's been 2 weeks in the barrel for the tiger eye with a few tiger iron pieces thrown in. I added some 60/90 grit at week 1 but didn't bother checking the stones. Today I pulled them out to check the progress. Hey, I'm new at this and still need to see what's going on! Give me another month and I'll just let them run till I get around to checking. The rocks that I started with are in the first post of this thread. Remember, no little stones allowed! Don't want small stones, so why waste time tumbling them? Here's the initial loading Well, naturally after 2 weeks, I have a nice brown soup with the tiger eye, so let's see what we got. yummy! I saved the slurry and it went back in when I reloaded the barrel. Here are the rinsed stones. Shaping pretty well I guess. Not sure if the lighter is ever going to work again, but heck they're cheap! ;D The barrel wasn't full enough for my liking, so I cut a little more on the trim saw and added this to the batch. I figure I'll add some more grit in another week or so and pull them out 2 weeks from now to see what's happening. Next week I will check on the sodalite batch and the red jasper w/ hematite batch. I just started the rose quartz a few days ago, so they can cook for awhile... Our biggest rock show of the year is this weekend and by most standards it's pretty small, but I'll see if i can get some pictures worth sharing. Thanks for following along with my newbie tumbling adventures!

Great project. I like large rocks too but they take a long time to get in to the shape I want them generally. The material you are using is unreal. I like it all a lot. I wish I had stuff like that. Thanks for updating the thread, and I can't wait to see the finished product. I like the story part of the post, as I think that too many folks posting are often challenged enough just by creating a darn post with a picture in it, and often don't write down a thing. So it is refreshing to read a story that goes along with it.

Yep, I guess I didn't notice that it was a necro. Pity, there is a lot of this going around the RTH lately. Still wonder how they turned out.
