I check my tumblers every friday... helps me remember since its always the same day. So here are a few of the treasures from the sludge... These guys have been in the 120/220 grit for 2 weeks, and I'm moving them into the fine... and yes, I pulled out all of the stray pellets... This is a combination of agates and jaspers from DAH in Tuscon and rocks that some friends have picked up off the Great Lakes Region in Canada. They are in the 1.5 lb Lortone These guys are coming out of the coarse... the sodalite went for 2+ weeks in my 1.5 lb tumbler, then last week I needed some filler for the 15 lber, and they needed just a bit more work... so in they went. They're being tumbled for a custom piece of jewelry. They are actually two combined runs from the 1.5 lber. I ran one batch all the way through, and was not happy with the results, and I needed more for the custom order. So I started another batch. I might actually have enough to run them by themselves for the med-polish stages.... These are the rejects from the 15 lber... for various reasons getting tumbled for another week or 5. And the rough that went into the tumbler to replace what I pulled out. I'm going to run the 15 lb tumbler as a coarse stage, until I either end up with about 15 lbs of rocks ready for 120/220 or I run out of coarse grit. Until then, I'll be using my 1.5 tumbler for the medium- polish stages. It's a never ending process!

Hehe. I love blue... my friend wants 5-7 stones.... I bought 3 lbs of sodalite, just to make sure I have enough, by the time I swipe the pieces I want!

Sodalite's one of my favorites, too. Some here have had trouble polishing it, but I've had very good luck - and my batches have been mixed agates, jaspers, pet wood with the sodalite.
Nice stuff!

That's a great looking batch, love that red/orange in the first pic and of course the sodalite.

Much of what's in that first pic is the small or medium tumbling mix from The Rock Shed. With the exception of some of the striped and mottled stuff on the left side which came out of Canada.

Looking really good! I really like that orange rock with the black line in it in the first pic. Can't wait to see them finished!

I love sodalite. I’m dying to get some to experiment with hopefully some day soon. So beautiful.

Nice rocks! You sure are having fun and getting great results. I have been tempted to buy some sodalite from the Princess Mine (Ontario, Canada), but keep thinking that I should be able to find a little bit of it somewhere myself. It is still eluding me. I have learned is that it is best to look for it when the rock is wet. Otherwise, it is easy to walk right by a vein.

You need to buy some first and then the next day you’ll find a bunch of it. Lol.
