Hi, everyone! I just finished my Christmas present for Ina - a dragongly. The body and the head are made from a slab of Challis Jasper from Tony-catmandewe and for the wings I used a slab of Brazilian agate. Here are the pics of the progresses of the work, they can talk much better than I could: The cabbing work: The wrapping work - starting from the head... ...then the wings... ...the tail... ...And ready! ;D This picture shows the natural size of the dragonfly: And some pics for Tweet: A lot of work envolved, but I'm quite happy with the results. I am very happy that I managed to cab such a small cab as the head. I'm also glad that I was able to imagine that hidden bail. Not the best look from the back, but from the front it's OK i think. There are some imperfections but I still hope she will like it. Please tell me honestly what do you think about it? Any opinions, even criticks, would be helpful for me. Not for this one - I won't change it - but for others in the future maybe. Thanks for looking, Adrian

Your selection of stones and tiny details are excellent. I thought, "what's he going to do with the tail?" and as I scrolled down, I was pleasantly surprised. I was saying "wow" the whole time. She will love it! Jo

Adrian, Brilliant design as always. The dragonfly is my mom's favorite thing to collect. I will have to put this idea in the back of my mind for future reference. But since I havent even tried a groove wrap yet, it will probably be awhile. Fantastic job. Shannon

Grove Master: She is going to love it! Now did you put a pin back on so she can wear it like on a blazer, or a winter coat? I think it would be a neat brooch. I think she will be amazed!!! You are so talented, to have thought all that wrapping out and to have such neat clean lines! Nothing short of pure creativity and skill.

There are no more words of praise that haven't been said! That is oustanding! it looks so solid - not fragile at all! Thanks for posting the back - you guys warm my cockles when you post pictures of the back for me! - do girls have cockles??? I'd like to know how you cut those wings? In the first rough assembly the edges are all zigzag - I'm wondering if you aren't using your teeth to cut those...

Thank you everyone! If these are really your sincere opinions, as I kindly asked you to do, that's great! I like it but being the author it's kinda normal to like it even if it's not great. Your confirmation means a lot to me, thank you all again! Tony - catmandewe, I cleaned it thoroughly at the end of the work with acethone so the chances to get back to life are weak ;D Naturenut, I'm glad you like the details and the tail Roxy, if you prefer we can call it Libellule (French word for Dragonfly). It would be easyer to me as in Romanian it's caled Libelula Shannon, I'm sure you got the craftmanship and the artistry to make a beautiful dragonfly for your mom. Amber, I thought to make it a brooch but Ina doesn't wear brooches. She complains they deform her blouses and this dragonfly would had done it for sure, it's pretty heavy. I think it would had been more simple for me to make it as a brooch. Tweet, I wish I had such good teeth, but I was still using my trim saw Adrian

That is the most stunning piece of art work! Adrian you did a phenomenal job in creating this dragonfly. The stripe in the head depicts a dragonflys head beautifully.
I hope you are going to make more of these. I can see them not only worn around the neck but also proudly hung on walls or placed on end tables as a conversation piece.
You truely are an artisan and your daughter is going to love it.
Thank you for sharing and I really look forward to seeing more of these.

Hey Adrian,
That Dragon Fly is utterly incredible! Wow you hit a new standard with that one Sir! What fabulous craftsmanship, and a really neat design! I love it!
Your choice of materials is outstanding, the Agate wings and that marvelous body profile, it’s brilliant! congratulations Groove Master! That work of art will certainly inspire us to wrap better!
Your work with the cabs in the head is excellent, that looks like fiddly little chip of stone to work with, you did a great job, and it was cool to see how you thought your way through the wrapping sequence, very neat job! ;D
Thanks for sharing this with us! It’s inspirational!
Cheers,
Sparkles.
