I have several specimens I am not sure of. Once we identify them should I make a seperate thread for each? Hemimorphite? flat crystals Carborundum? Azurite or Lazurite in quartz. Galena in Quartz. Caliche (a limestone mud) with some quartz intrusion. See the little druze pockets? Dololmite? Barite, rather heavy Fossilized Coral Thanks for the help and new section. John

WAY over my head, but they're all real pretty. The last one looks like a petrified wasp nest LOL.

Gee man, don't be hollering at me for help, holler at Mel. ;D Very cool specimens. I have some hemimorphite, neat stuff. Petrified wasp nest is a good name for the last one. If Mel doesn't see this, PM him and ask him to get his butt to this thread. Curt

Howdy John, I'll take a look at them and maybe post a few ideas but be aware that I'm not a crystal specimen guy and identification of that stuff usually means I need a scope, scratch and streak test etc etc...Mel

OK John. The last two look like either dogtooth calcite ( or barite if it's unusually heavy) and fossilized coral. I'd think the Missouri pumice is probably caliche ( a limestone mud) with some quartz intrusion. The deep blue one I can't make out a crystal structure in the specimen so I'd say azurite or lazurite in quartz. The hemimorphite looks good to me as do the others you've ID'd....Mel
