Technically it is full tomorrow evening
Full Moon on 10 January 2009 at 7:27 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
according to the moon scientists anyway.
I've never had much luck shooting the moon, might have to give it a try with the new camera...

Well, that looked so cool I had to give it a try. Waited for a hot flash and went out and got these. This is a regular setting This is a moon setting And then my husband went out and took it with his camera It is strait up in the sky right now, not as neat as yours with the trees and mist. Forgot to say: Virginia Moon. Fran

You're right, RallyRocks, thanks for keeping me straight. That means we have one or two more nights to shoot pics. Cool! Fran, your moon pics are awesome! I had to play with my camera to get anything but a blurry orb. Yours are great! Amber, they are now OUR moon pics from PA. Jo

All of those are really great pics. Fran, I waited for my "flash" but the internal furnace wouldn't kick on. It's never there when I need it soooooooo: a pic while I was shivering: and a pic while I held my breath And I don't mind saying that focusing with the zoom all the way up and trying to keep that white ball focused was like trying to catch silly putty when you bounce it. lol

Here's my lame attempt from this morning. Dang'd old flying saucer got in the way I really need to learn my camera beyond simple pix. I'm sure a tripod would help too! Fran, your hubby's pic is great, I remember Condor posted a moon pic he did with his telescope a while back that was just incredible.

Wow! According to www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28581233/?GT1=43001 (Randy's link), it's the biggest full moon: "If skies are clear Saturday, go out at sunset and look for the giant moon rising in the east. It will be the biggest and brightest one of 2009, sure to wow even seasoned observers.

I'm drinking a can of Red Bull now. I only had two beers today and now I can't stay awake! Too cloudy right now to see the moon, but it's so bright that the clouds are lit up.
