While Chris and I were down visiting Rodney and Jamie, I found a specimen one day while we were out wandering around the desert. When we got back Chris and Jamie cleaned it up in an acid bath. I finally got around to taking some pictures. I am not sure what it is, but it sure is cool. Thanks for looking..................Tony

Looks like a quartz pseudomorph to me! Nice find!! I wonder what the quartz replaced in that one. Interesting.

Wow that is a great looking pseudomorph! Kinda like sagenite in the round. Might be a pseudomorph of quartz after aragonite.....Mel

Very cool find. I'm out here in Az. too and find crystals an druzy every so often, but my question is, what kind of acid bath do you use to clean them like that? Good to see what can be found out in the desert.

What a wonderful piece. The shapes are very interesting and quite different from anything I've seen.

Jamie had some in powder form, I believe it was Oxalic acid, but I may be mistaken. Jamie and Chris did the acid bath, I was busy playing with the slab saw.
I found this one laying upside down in the mud (with the crystal formations down in the mud), looked kind of like an agate so I picked it up, it was raining slightly, so after the rain cleaned it up, I thought it was a keeper, as my wife really likes those crystal kind of things.

Cool stuff. How bad was it before the bath? Did you get any before pictures?
