Here are some fossils my buddy in Montana has found and is working on....... The first one here is very rare ammonite! Plus is only suppose to be found in the formations of Canada! He found this in Central Montana in the "Bearpaw" Formation...... Here is another ammonite he found, its huge, its heavy...Just like the ones I have but much bigger.......... Found in Central Montana....... A full baculite, its been cleaned up a bit, about ready for polish........ Also found in Central Montana... He has many years of prepare work,it keeps him busy.....

Fran To break it down in our language, its a prehistoric fish, that looks like a straight snail..........They are found in the same zone as the ammonites and scaphites............. Usually in pieces of 3,4 or 6 inch sizes, hardly whole-I have three whole ones............(Out of a 1000 finds)...

Seeing these ammonites makes me want to go looking for them. I have some GPS way points for locations where they can be found in Idaho but have not had a chance to check them out yet. Have you collected them in Idaho?
