This is a quote................ Quote"Those are totally cool! I have yet to find a complete ammonite but I'm still looking *S*....Mel "Quote I have built many ammonites into one, from broken pieces........And pieces that are not the same ammonite. Its hard work and gets on your nerves, but the outcome is great! Here is my first build. My Uncle Henry said this was my calling on fossils. Everyone has a thing they do best on fossils, more than other's,like preporation,polishing,etc,etc... This is what I love doing-rebuilding ammonites....... Look at the top piece of this ammonite, see the fractures on it,thats my work to incorperate one piece of fossil to another to make the ammonite has one: I also filled in the hollow places with ammonite dust mixed with glue based paste.....

Thats three different pieces of ammonite made into one......... ;D (All found in different areas at different times) Like I said I pick most everything up,never know when you will use it).... The ammonite dust is easy to make,I find small busted pieces, than grind them into small tiny pieces, like a paste, but dry.Than mix my glue with it when I use it...... It takes a great polish too.......

OK now that is an awesome reconstruction! All we have here on the ranch are steinkerns and when they bust up, the fragments are pretty rough. I always try to fit them together but so far, haven't found anything close to a match to assemble....Mel

Very cool! Sure beats having a bunch of fragments. I can just imagine how tedious it must be.

Amazing work! It sure looks nice and I am afraid it didn't look like a repair to me...I guess that shows how good it is or how bad I am at seeing it...Well, I think it is great! Fran
