Steve could take a little detour through Pennsylvania with that truckload of rocks, couldn't he? Can't wait to see the cleaned up haul too!!!

I loved those pics of the landscape. That is some serious rock hounding and hauling. I had to look twice at the truck to see if it was tilted from a rut or the load.
What an extrodinary rockhounding trip.
Thanks for sharing with us.

Wow! The scenery was fantastic and they days looked so nice! I really loved seeing your mine area. Lots of beautiful rock there and all the rock around the main vein is amazing too! It sure looks like you have formed a good friendship and had a great time hounding! It really looks like the trip paid off, especially to that little side road that was just a lead. Beautiful stuff but the true colors won't show till you get things washed up. I am really excited about that! Fran

Glad you guys had some Great Days of rockhounding! It looks like you found some really nice material. I really like that picture of the Chrysocolla vein...that's pretty darn neat. I like the Mine Photos too. I guess they don't have too much Cactii in Minnesota huh? ;D Thanks for posting all the pics. It is really nice taking us along with the both of you. Steve

I think that if Steve does any more hounding with you he's gonna need a bigger truck. Great pics!

Actually ... that's the biggest exposed part of the vein, but not "the best" part (so far). The same vein, but on the other side of the peak, is where I get most of the better stuff ... and that's where Steve and I mined. Looking through all of the stones today, while putting together flat-raters, I think we did pretty darn good. There are some clunkers, which is completely expected due to the way I hound, but we did REAL well overall. We got a lot of good lapidary material, but some nice specimens, too. I think Steve ended-up taking home close to about 100 pounds of stone (?). He got a lot of nice specimens while hounding, and, of course, I gave him a lot of stuff from my "collection", too. He also brought me some great specimens from Minnesota, which now proudly reside on my display table and will remain there! Amber, actually the plan was to keep showing shots of me without showing my face, then we were going to take our picture together at the end ... but we forgot to do it. That sucks, because I REALLY wanted that picture! Yeah, Steve's visit was more fun than I've had in a LONG time.

Wow, what an outstanding trip!!! ;D I left MJ's Thursday morning and got back to Duluth on Friday night at 11:30...straight through with two 3-hour naps. :nono: My daughters had a skating competition Saturday! MJ...Thanks buddy! You are a gracious host and a true Rock Hound & FRIEND! It takes a lot of research and intuition to find the right places in a sea of rocks!!! We carried as much rock as we dare, in every instance...keeping a reasonable safety margin, considering where we were hounding! I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Desert Hounding, in a stunning/beautiful/historic place!!! I still have not unpacked or looked closely at the rocks I brought home! I took about 350 pics or so, I'll put together a post when I get a little more time! Often I was torn between hounding or shooting photos. You could spend a lifetime doing either out there! Thanks again and I'm positive we'll cross paths again!
