I needed to be right in the middle of fossil country to meet Ronda over the weekend so whilst I waited, I hunted. Stopped by my favorite river for a few hours and found a Mosasaur vertebrae, a bone, and some bone fragments. A couple of broken sharks teeth, and a couple of fish teeth along with some larger tooth fragments, probably horse These worm castings are common, but I like the little devils and can't help but pick them up About 1 PM I went on to Denton and while I was waiting looked over a construction sight. I found some branching coral and a pitiful gastropod. The ground here was littered with thousands of weird purple oysters. Brought a few home, but forgot to take a pic. For me, it was a good trip and I had a ton of fun, which counts the most. Curt

Wow super cool! Love the vertebra and the fish teeth. One of buddies on the ranch has some mosasaur stuff too. It's really neat. Never seen those worm castings but now I have to keep my eyes open to see if i can spot some too....Mel

All really nice finds. You were in a good spot, a person doesn't mind waiting in a place like that.

Thanks guys. Mel, I want to find a Mosasaur tooth. Those things are cool. Can you imagine a 50 ft. lizard with a mouth full of teeth that would make an alligator cringe. Curt

Beautiful finds, Curt! You were right to not let them on the ground, all of them are cool.
Adrian
PS. Is that cylindrical white one in the 2nd pic a bone? Looks like pet wood.

Yep, Adrian, it's a bone. Can't tell by the pic, but it's hollow.

Thanks for posting this as it really peeked my curiosity and I had to find out what a Mosasaur looked like so I checked out Wikipedia and learned a ton of things about them. One thing it said was that some fossils have been found with shark teeth imbedded in them.
Kind of cool to think that maybe the teeth you found were going after that Mosasaur, unless you found the teeth in a different area.
The worm castings would make awesome earrings.

The worm castings would make awesome earrings. ;D That would one stone you probably wouldn't want to tell your customer what it was, lol! I saw the vertabrae in person, and it was absolutely amazing. I also have a LARGE handful of the purple oyster shells Curt mentioned, and I can't wait to grind on one to see what I get.

The first thing I thought with the worm castings was earrings, then I thought No Way a woman is going to wear worm castings. ;D Besides, they are just tiny things. Ronda forgot to mention the fantastic rocks she brought me when she mentioned the oysters. That's the kind of person she is. Curt

What exactly are worm castings? If it is worm poop, no biggy. People have no problem wearing Dino poop and those two little red ones are so colorful.;D
Ronda, can you post a pic of the shells when you get them polished. I just love shells.
