Nice Tony! Did you find it? I have a similar rock that I found and can't get anyone to say Yep or Nope.

I didn't find it, it came in one of the estate sales. I did think about cutting it length wise to see what was in it, but I am afraid it will mess it up. I also did some research on it last night and it seems to be an Oviraptor egg. I am gonna put it in the incubator and then I can charge admission like Jurassic park did!!

Tony, maybe you could get an xray of the insides. I bet a mineral/rock club would have access to that kind of thing. That is so cool and I wouldn't cut it but that is just mho. It's neat to think that a "just about to hatch" petrified Oviraptor could be in it.

That is cool! I think it is worth more whole but maybe the x-ray idea would work because it sure makes you curious about it. Fran

It would be awfully tempting to cut that little baby but the way my luck runs it would have been an infertile egg, and, all I would find was a small air void if anything ! If I found a hundred of those I probably would take a peek in (one ) but stop there as I suspect there worth more in one piece !

Some Universities in Montana would ex ray that for you...I know the one in Missoula would. They have a famous fossil collection site(workshop) and museum there, headed by one of the top collectors in fossil and dino bones................ His name is Jack Horner,he is in charge of the dino and fossil stuff at Montana State University,he is a down to earth guy............ Just make sure you can prove that you got this from an estate sale, because you will be asked.Dino eggs are hard to come by,exspecially whole ones like that. Congrads on your egg,its really cool..............

Tony,
When Lillie and I went to the show this last weekend, she was looking at dinosaur eggs and wanted to know what would be inside if they were cut open......I didnt have an answer for her. That girl though, she surprises even me sometimes. There was a large fossil plate at the same table, I didnt have a clue what it was other than really "cool". The gentleman walked up and asked us if we knew what it was. I told him I didnt have a clue........Lillie says "I know, its kelp". And the man said "smart girl, she is absolutely right". Kids, they just blow me away with their knowledge sometimes.
Thanks for sharing,
Shannon
