Hi All, Here's a an agate I found near Greenwater, WA. There is a well-dug site there with lots of material, but very few with these colors. It's a beautiful place to dig, but you have to be willing to move a lot of dirt (and leave enough time to fill the hole in before you leave). This piece is about 4 inches long, and came from about 7 feet down in the ground: Enjoy, Garry

If you can, post a photo of your dig site. As a collector, I'm always fascinated to see what we are willing to endure in pursuit of a rock.
That's a really beautiful find. Can't say I've ever seen anything like it before. It sounds like you earned it.

Beautifull find! Did you have to dig the 7' at one time to find it? Hounds are a determined breed if they suspect there's a prize!!!
Generally, most places, it seems it's getting harder and harder to find good rock. Plus there's way fewer places available to hound!

Generally, most places, it seems it's getting harder and harder to find good rock. Plus there's way fewer places available to hound! The answer to your question is "sort of". I dug in the same place two separate times. So the second time, I had to re-dig out all the fill I had put back in the hole from the first time. So I guess you could say I dug the hole in one day - got there early and left late. Luckily the first 4 feet of 're-digging' were really easy. When you dig a hole like that you also have to dig some "toe holds" in there so you can get out. If I can find a pic of the site I'll post it. ************************************************** I've dug like that before and got skunked too, so Amber, you just never know what you'll find till you get down there! However, you can always be sure of one thing - you'll get lots of exercise - LOL!!! ;D Garry

All of you just need to know that our Mossyrockhound is one determined digger once he starts digging! I know, I have been there, he can dig in one hole all day long, Now, me, if I am not finding rock, I get bored and wander off and dig somewhere else, only coming back if the new places are worse than the first. Hi gang: Mossyrockhound may not get around to finding a picture, so I decided to help. I took this picture while he was busy trying to clean out the original hole. chasfire

Hi Garry, I am offically signed in and my handle is redrocker1. I will have to work on my photo file, especially while in the field at the dig/collecting sites. This should be interesting. I like your deep hole. Any farther and you hit magma.
