I have a friend who does some of the finest flint knapping I have ever seen. He is a real perfectionist. He recently sent me some points he made and asked me if I could convert them into jewelry pendants. Some of them were a bit too large to realistically be used for pendants, but these three were perfect. He often makes his points out of large flakes he has collected from artifact sites, and at least two of these are made from those materials. I electroformed the caps with a heavy layer of 18kt gold plate. He really liked the results, so I thought I would share the photos with everyone. I can convert spearpoints into jewelry for members of the forum if anyone is interested. Thanks for looking. Vance

Nice looking points and a little less complicated than wire wrapping would be. My wife has some experience working with wire and making smaller points look finished is a wee bit of a struggle. The thing that presents the most problems is the fact that they are a lot thinner than a cab and after dealing with stones in 1/4 in, and thicker sizes, trying to work with only 2 or possibly 3 wires makes a completely new game out of it. Pretty much forces you to back up to square one and start the learning process all over !

I see the southern points, like the newnan in the middle, I guess the one on the left is a cohokia. He did a great job , no slab knapping from him. You do fine work

Hey Vance
If I ever find a Mosasaur tooth I want you to make me a pendant out of it.
