Tony was moving all weekend and college graduation this weekend, so no time for wrapping! But lots of good ideas how to approach it when he has a moment! Thanks for all the great suggestions! Amber

Scotch tape is easier to get off. I just soak in warm soapy water...and it slides off easily...even after totally wrapped and locked into place. ;D

hey Tony, I just wanted to mention that what I was wrapping the onyx piece that the silver wire did scratch the stone in a couple spots ( under the prongs, so the scratches are hidden ). Onyx is around 6 or 7 mohs, and amber is quite a bit softer, so do be very careful with that stone . But, then again, I did have to pretty much force the stone in there before I made the bale because of the ( pain in the a** ) way I wrapped it ( it was worth the effort I think ). ;D Hey, you could always try round wire... less edges to scratch the stone on....

Amber smells and tastes like pine needles, that is one of the ways to tell real amber from the fake plastic stuff that is flooding the market. Tony, get a bunch of cabs, blindfold Amber, and see how many she can identify by taste alone: Balanced sweetness with a touch of lilac in the after taste: Onyx Grassy with a lively finish: Moss Agate etc, etc, etc...
