Hey John........ any cabs yet? I think the one blue one might be a chrysocolla I can't find the slip when I got it. It looks to me to be kind of soft, The guy I got it from didn't do a very good job slicing it as some of the slabs are about double thick. you might want to stabilize it before you get to involved

no cabs yet i got another month or so befor i can get to the genie then im gonna set it up where i can get to it when i need to -- i think i have some stabilizer out there but i think the stuff has a short shelf life might have to get some new stuff

I usually stabilize with opticon the first bottle I acquired was over 10 yrs old when I got it. I pour opticon in an old corningware container and leave it in it. I add slabs or precuts and let them go through several heat and cool cycles and then remove then and just put a drop or two of hardener on each piece and let them set for a couple of days turn them over and put a couple of drops on the other side also. my first bottle of hardener was solid. it was so old that it had hardened itself. The second kit of opticon was at least 5 yrs old and that set worked. the resin seems to keep quite awhile as long as the hardener still works I wouldn't be to concerned with an expiration date.
