Bubbly chalcedony. Forms in volcanic areas similar to geode centers.

Yep, Nice agate geode. Many times when you cut through those botryoidal formations, you'll find they contain great looking moss, sagenite, plume or tubes. The Woodward Ranch Plume agate often shows those grape or bubble type formations and inside those is where the good plume occurs....Mel

Well, thanks guys. Beings how the whole thing is only about 2" long and maybe an inch wide I guess I'm gonna have to leave it as it is. Sure is an interesting little thing though. Reminds me of something oozing out of somethings intestines or something!

Donnie - I notice your in the Florida Keys... If this is where you found the stone it would very well be a piece of coral as well. I often see certain types of coral just like this. Thin walled with nice hollow botrydial formation. To be honest this to me does look like a coral piece. If you have a shortwave UV light - light this up and I'll bet-cha it would glow a nice yellowish color such as some of the coral I see.

I stand corrected about absolutely positive.....there is also 2 places where you can find some variations of that type of material........Aucilla River & Econfina River up near Perry,FL....I have GPS coordinates of collections spots there as well.......the material there can be botrodial, but more drusy/chert.....

Donnie showed that piece in a collection she bought from an old rock hound so not a local find necessarily. If coral it looks exactly like our geodesic, amygdoloidal, etc. pieces found all over Wiley Wells and other areas. The stuff with brown is where fire agate is found.

That Coral is some neat lookin stuff. At first glance the pic almost looked like a fulgarite ! Spelling there ?. Have a few pieces that have been sliced and tumble polished, great colors.
