My son Tom, who did four proud years in the Navy and is now in college, allowed us to tag along with him to pick up his brand new Golden Retriever puppy, Toby. Tom is a veteran animal lover and this will be a very lucky and well-trained and loved little guy.
Tom and Toby
This was mom's first litter and she had two, a boy and a girl (Toby on right).
Brother and sister said their goodbyes, and sister played contentedly in the garden. She will be going to live in the Pocono Mountains with her new family very soon. We told her she is going to love living in the mountains.
Toby and Mom then said their goodbyes and we told Mom that she did a real good job. Mom seemed to handle the whole thing pretty well.
Tom got some last minute instructions from the breeder...
...and then we were off to Tom's house, and Toby's new home, a cute little cape cod which is right on a pond.
Toby checked out his surroundings like the curious little puppy he is.... and... yep, you guessed it! He went into the drink!~
That was Toby's first impromptu swimming lesson. Wish I had my camera ready when it happened. Puppies are fast! Walked away for a minute and missed it, LOL. But, Tom wrapped him up in a blanket and his fluffy fluff-ball golden coat dried quickly in the sun.
We decided he had better wear his new collar and he soon was back to exploring again.
Angie wanted to swim too, but we felt it would be better when Toby was a little older and they could swim together. That is gonna be fun!
So we went inside to show Toby the inside of his new house. We had lunch while he discovered a pile of toys that Angie kindly donated to him.
And Toby and Angie started to play a little bit.
Well, the little butterball must've gotten all tuckered out and felt quite at home. Tom put him down on the couch on a soft blanket and he was out like a light while we ate lunch.
Just wanted to show you the school of catfish that are in Tom's pond.
They are huge suckers! Glad they don't eat puppies!
Thanks for coming on the adventure with us!
Jo
