Well all, these are my first attempts at square wire. I tried to choose stones I thought the copper would make pop and this is what I've come up with so far. I also received my first shipment of Argentium Sterling Silver today and have a commission for it and am regretting not having ordered square instead of the round. Oh well, it'll have to do for now What do you guys think? This is a Cab from Randy (Thank you so much!!) It's Koi Jasper from Africa This is a red tiger's eye, I know I'm obsessed with them, I absolutely think they're gorgeous. And I'm not sure what kind of stone this is, anyone have a guess? I really love the shadow play in the deep red color. I want more of it, it'd help if I knew what it was called lol

I think you are doing quite well! Overall, I would say the first one above looks best. All in all, they do look great, and a site better than what I can currently do,lol!! Thanks for showing them!

You are really moving forward fast! I think the next step for you will be to sharpen your turns on your binding wire at the top of the wrap. Wrap just a little tighter and crimp with your pliers to flatten them at the end (I always wrap a paper towel around the area I am crimping so I don't risk scuffing the wire). Now, it doesn't always turn out tight and neat but some will. Sometimes, the wire has a mind of its own! Now, out of this group, I really love the last one! The shape and graceful swoops, I just love it! Fran

Great work! I like the last one the best also. It might be a Brecciated Jasper, or Red Jasper with Hematite. Jo

Thank you all so much everyone! I do seem to have trouble with the bails sometimes, but thank you for the suggestion, I never thought to crimp them and use a paper towel, I will definitely be doing that from now on! Yey for a guess at what that last stone is, I really like it - Krista

I would suggest making the bails larger too. Your decorative wire work is good and your binding wraps around the stone are great too, just need to work on getting the bail wrap tight, even and straight and you'll be wrapping like a pro in no time! are you using Half Round wire for the binding wraps?

Krista, they look great to me. Better looking than mine when I first started. Using 1/2 round for your wrap wire will help tremendously. Ken

I've always just used a piece or two of the wires that come up at the top instead of using a separate piece to wrap the bail, I tried it with the cab randy gave me but idk it just didn't feel right, I'll probably give it another shot.

You'll definitely want to switch to half round. I used round wire for two years and finally switched. I'll never go back!! If you decide to get some half round, get it in half hard, 21 gauge.

They are all very nice, You'll never go back to round wire. I just ordered square & 1/2 round copper wire , I anxious to get it. Love the look of copper with your stones.

Nice job. I like the wrap on the last one the best although the bail wrap looks too big/long for the stone, if that makes sense. Keep up the good work. Instead of a paper towel I use painters tape wrapped around the end of the pliers.
