I'm back. I've been working on putting my wraps on my website. Check it out at www.akobaart.com I had company for the fourth. Some friends with two little boys, 6 and 8. We took them hunting for crystals. Then of course I had to wrap them. This is the smallest wrap I have ever done. 24 gauge sterling. My eyes hurt after that. This is a very small tumbled citrine that I gave to the 6 year old. of course he wanted it wrapped too. Copper wire. This one I cheated on. It is not a cab. I bought this slice from the tourist rock store. It is very large wrapped in 21 gauge sterling silver. I know it is dyed blue, but very pretty anyway. Thanks for lookin. Amy

Very nice, Amy! I like the blue one - don't care if it's dyed or cooked or whatever, it's purty! The little quartz crystal is neat - I've never managed to do a decent wrap on anything that wasn't more or less flat, and certainly not anything that small! Good job!

Very nice work. I'm sure the boys will keep the pendants forever.

actually the 8 year old fond the crystal and gave it to his mom who loves the wrap and wears it proudly. The six year old wears his everywhere he goes.
Thanks tigereyes  you are too kind. I really should paint more. I've been side tracked by wrapping lately.
Thanks everyone, I'm glad you like them.

You must have really nimble fingers. All the wraps are beautiful but the tiny ones you did are really amazing. With Ambers crystals on the way I was wondering how to approach the wrapping of the Herks. I wouldn't copy exactly but your post helps a great deal. I hope you don't mind.
I checked out your website also. You are an amazing artist.

Hey Amy! Awesome new pieces. I really like the blue agate, even if it is dyed. It was fun seeing you today - see you again soon!

That double terminated quartz is so cool. You did a great job wrapping it. I'd have to guess you went to Date Creek. I'm not a fan of dyed agate (guess I'm more of a purist) but that is a pretty blue color.

Never heard of date creek. Where is that? I would like to go if there is good crystals there. Actually we went to Diamond Point by Payson Arizona.
I prefer natural stones too but this one was only $2.00 and pretty and already polished. I ground the edges smooth. It called my name in the store and whispered "wrap meee".

I've never heard of Diamond Point so guess that makes us even ;-) Date Creek is off 93 north of Wickenburg, AZ. There are some crystals there even a few scepters but digging and screening for crystals is the way to go there. Are there good crystals at Diamond Point?

Mostly small ones or broken ones unless you go in the winter time when you are allowed to break the large rocks. What is screening?

Mostly small ones or broken ones unless you go in the winter time when you are allowed to break the large rocks. What is screening? Screening is when you sift out the dirt to find the crystals using a sort of box made with wood and a screen at the bottom (usually 1/2" wire mesh). Here's a picture of me screening for garnets at Emerald Creek, Idaho two years ago (gee it doesn't seem like it was that long ago). Basically you put dirt in the screening "box" (for want of a better word) and shake it to expose the crystals. Like panning for gold only in dirt and looking for crystals, garnets, or other cool rocks.
