Here is the brooch the girls made for their grandmother (my mother-in-law) for her birthday with the blue lace cabs they made a few weeks ago. This has been done for quite some time, but I just remembered to post it. Hope y'all like it! Nate, Abby, and Emily

Oh, you all did a great job on that! One of your daughters bought that setting somewhere right? I have not seen anything like it, and it turned out fantastic! She will treasure that! Fran

Wow, Marie, the girls must have been learning a lot from watching you! That is a very pretty brooch. Tell us about the backing - was it ready-made, or did you do the silver work, or what? The stones are outstanding - all match, even down to the lay of the patterns. Gorgeous! Tom PS - What a dummy! Why did I think this was Marie's post? I been hit on the head by the dumb-bug again, I guess. Sorry, Nate!

Thanks again everyone ! The finding was purchased from a vendor at the local rock show in March. Emily picked it out way back then and wanted to make something with it. I'm guessing it's not silver, but just base metal or whatever you call it because i think it cost $2.00. Our original plan was to make tear drop shaped cabs so it would resemble a flower, but after discussing it and cutting out paper pieces for templates, the girls decided to try the triangles. I liked the decision because I thought they might be easer to get all 6 shapes uniform. After polishing the cabs (front only so the backs had some bite in the glue) and roughing up the finding, I glued them on with E-6000. It seems to be holding well. Nate

That is one really great looking work of art there! Talk about heirloom quality! Impressive! Now, I'm gonna have to go looking for something to make a brooch out of too!
