Well, I only dop tiny cabs, so I'm using my Ameritool flat lap sans dop stick most of the time. To get the most out of my time, I usually do large groups of cabs and my fingers usually look like yours Ken... or worse. When they start bleeding, I usually put some strong fabric athletic bandaids on several fingers just to finish up the batch. I'll have to stop a couple of days to let them heal up.
I use a big pitcher to fill my drip cup so I can adjust the temperature accordingly.
JC, I'll have to look into that Gator Tape and see if it'll save me. Care to share a link for it?
I thought the same thing when I saw the title of this thread. I had a boss once that when the conversation turned to anything about cold weather or water, he'd always say "Maximum Shrinkage!" LOL

When reading the title of the thread, I thought I'd see some wet Tshirt contest pics. ;D

OUCH!!! I have done that but not as bad as you have. I started wearing band aides on the tips of my fingers if I am cabbing feehand. When you see the band aide has warn through, it is time to get more or quit for the evening. If I am using a dop, it is only my knuckles that get it. I have never thought of using warm water because I thought the diamonds needed to stay cold. I guess if you use lukewarm water, it would keep the cab from coming off the wax when it is too cold....May have to try it this winter. Fran

Yep I have done that too, only it is always my acrylic nails sliced sideways, LOL I put hot water in the trays and just keep refilling when it gets too cold, Tony has that wierd white finger thing when he gets cold form cabbing. I don't sop but even when I did, I would still get freezing cold fingers!

That's about what my fingers look like! I do my cabbing inside so temp is not a problem. I have small hands so cabbing is probably easier for me (I'm a shortie). Gloves are a problem for me, always too big! Might try the bandaids or some of that tape!!
