Wow Robin, those are amazing. Very cool. Wonder what one of my wire wraps would look like after you got done with the picture. I don't get very good pictures of them but here's one for you to try if you can work with it.

Diane the picture itself is quite small (308x319 pixels) and when they are that small the details start to wash out, especially on the silver portions. However, here's some attempts at it: Now these are all just tossed up with some playing around with the background to help the pendant stand out. I'm working on a line drawing of this pendant now and will post it when I'm done with it. Oh, again, the larger the photo in pixel depth, the easier it is to "prettify" it. Mine are usually between 10 and 12 meg, I do all my work at that size then shrink the photos down to about 680k for posting here. Oh, also, when you photograph a stone or jewelry, have it on a background that offsets the color of the stone. Put simply, lite stone, dark backgroud; dark stone, lite background. That makes it easier to pull the stone forward. Some people here hang their stones in other stones, that's great as long as you can distinguish your stone from it's background.

Another way to make your stone stand out is to remove the background and insert your own. Here' I've tossed just the stone on an image that is too close in color, then on another that makes the stone stand out. Also, these are both in png format, you can use that or gif to remove the background so the image appears in a more natural form here on the forums. I use png a lot in my work so that I can extract a specific object and drop it into another image. Again, I'm using your image from above, and the pixel depth is really shallow so cleaning it up to extract it is a PITA.

Now here's that same photo that you've posted above, blown out to 10 megapixels, then a line drawing in pencil and colored in with felt tip. Good example of how the image fades into it's background. I've shrunk this down from 10mp to about 640k as at 10mp it's about 10.7" wide x 8" tall....

Now here's the same exact picture, blown out again to 10mp, same exact number of brush strokes, on an off-setting background:

Last but definitely not least, do a line drawing in pencil and color over that with watercolors then some brown ink touches for definition, more the artsy-fartsy view, and I should have turned the stone about 45 degrees from straight up and down to give it more character, but this gives you an idea. Sharper image would produce a sharper painting...
