I bought out part of an estate and went to pick up some of it yesterday. When I got there the rocks were some where in there Digging out the Rocky Butte out of the snow That is my friend Jon showing off the nice little pile of Rocky Butte. Another pile of Owyhee Green which is a mixture of Jelly Bean, Haystack Butte, Easter Egg, and other assorted Owyhee jaspers. The full load Headed home I lost a tire due to a rock in the road and had to pull over on the side of the road, as luck would have it, I pulled over about 200 yards from a closed weigh station and about 10 minutes later an ISP officer came along and had me drive through the scales. Needless to say I got an over weight ticket. I had to unload some of it and have to go back for it later. Was a long day and probably pretty expensive. Good thing I really like rocks! Thanks for looking.............Tony

Holy cow - that's a LOAD! Wish we had some of those flavors down here - but so far I haven't found anything but limestone. And since this isn't hounding country, there are precious few hounds or collectors around, so never any estates like that one. Good haul, Tony! Tom P.S. - any progress on the flat lap inventory?

Wow, nice haul! So did you get lots of funny looks when folks saw you hauling a load of "rocks" down the road? I know I did when I brought a trailer with ~2 tons back from Custer SD to Kansas City... They were palletized with remesh cages around them, and people kept coming up to me at gas stops loooooking...like I had wild animals in there or something! Rodney

Great loooking haul. Too bad about the tire. Now if I could get you to go hounding in your back yard for some bright red agate/jasper/quartz, I still need it. ;D ;D Fill a med. FRB with other rocks and the red and let me know how much. Ken

Now that's what I call dedicated hounding. Digging those out of the snow and all. Great haul. Bummer about the ticket, but that haul should make up for it.

That's quite a load Tony. Looks like some great stuff. I hope the ticket doesn't set you back too much. Just a thought, would a tarp over the load have deferred the cop from sending you to the scale? Out of sight - out of mind....

Hey Cul-Ann, I left 3000 lbs by the side of the road on the back side of a snow bank. Hope it is still there when I get back! I will pick it up next load as I still have 2 or 3 loads left to haul home from the estate sale.
My overweight was a combination of not being registered right and having 3000 lbs too much on the trailer, but he hit me for a total of 11,970 lbs overweight. I got the registration fixed yesterday and faxed it to the court house, dunno if they are gonna sock it to me or give me a break yet. Keeping my fingers crossed!
The officer told me that the only thing that is exempt is a pull type camp trailer. Guess what I am looking to fix up as a rock hauler?
Thanks for all the well wishes and kind comments. Merry Christmas..............Tony

Went to court today. The fine was $1040.00 plus court costs, the prosecuting attorney and I sat down and worked with some numbers. We finally came up with $293.20 total to get it all done in one day. He told me Merry Christmas, I said Merry Christmas back at ya. The judge was cool, too. Was a good day!
Merry Christmas to everyone! Tony
