Hey Shotgunner, I have and already did one in purple jade. Turned out nice but I learned that Turkish purple is a pain to carve.

It's just as hard but has tiny bits of some other material mixed into the jadeite which will undercut or pit. I'd say it carves the same but its more of a struggle to sand and polish avoiding undercutting or pitting.
