If it were me I'd look for a 5/8"ths arbor and swap it with the 3/4" (might even be able to get that one machined down for a reasonable price - never tried but if I had a metal lathe I'd give it a whirl).
With a smaller arbor you could always use those plastic insert adapters to size up if need be (I think they sell those at almost any hardware store?).
You might check eBay for arbors but you'd have to know exactly what you're looking for. Possible a machine shop could make you a 5/8"th from scratch - you'd have two then, which would make you kinda cooler than the other kids.
Just ideas. If it were me I'd find someone with a lathe and shave it down to 5/8"ths (or 1/2" but I'm less certain of this size with anything above 6.5" blades).

If that company can resize blades for 3/4" arbor, I'd go with them. Can't beat the MK 303 blade.
If you had your arbor turned to 5/8 or 1/2, you'd have to buy matching arbor bearings too.

Yeah...I don't think we will want to turn the arbor down to 5/8". I'm thinking we could go with the cheap blades from ebay and see how they work before going with the nice 303 blades with the custom arbor hole.

Of the three blades linked the first is the standard LZM crimped Chinese blade. The second as a sintered blade would be much better. The MK 303C "on sale" lists for $72 so not much of a discount. You could try BD Direct or MK direct. I'm not sure if you can get the hole punched through their buy direct website. They once did it for free and now charge $15 per hole. I do have 1" X 3/4" bushings but you would have an easier time not using bushings.

They have so many BS fees now I'm not sure it would be worth it. $15 machine fee for the hole. $6 handling charge. $6 "under minimum order charge" to drop ship it. Plus the $6-$7 FedEx charge. (that's $83 for a $50 blade) I just restocked blades or I would offer to get one on my next order. No telling how soon that will be.

To open 5/8 holes to 3/4 just use a step drill in a drill press with a sheet of plywood under the blade. First you make sure it's centered on the drill byturning the drill backwards by hand in the 5/8 step, clamp everything down and check again to make sure it didn't slip, then drill on the slowest speed to the next step, which will be 3/4. I did it with a 12 inch blade for my HP14 saw and it worked great.

Lee, I've heard that before but have not tried it yet.

I know what I'll be buying soon - and if I recall correctly these bits are not that expensive. Great reply!

[...] I will look for a pulley and a v-belt. I tried several pulleys (all the same size) when I was mod'ing my 10" tile saw and the only one that did not cause a lot of heat, did not wobble and was very sturdy was a maska: maskapulleys.com/accueil.htmThey also carry belts. I used this site to calc my belt size: www.gizmology.net/pulleysbelts.htmI also recommend the heat/vibration resistant belts sold by HF: www.harborfreight.com/vibration-free-link-belt-43771.htmlbut with two considerations: 1.) Adjust everything as straight and tension sound as possible prior to using this belt because it absorbs heat and vibration so good it will mask potential power loss and even problems (darn thing REALLY works!) 2.) Be sure the belt is covered well (it tends to take up more room than a traditional belt - mine would not fit beneath the pulley guard) because when it's running it might as well be a fiberglass chainsaw. My hammer slipped into it once and it ate a thick strip of the hard rubber encased handle off (down to the metal) so fast I didn't have time to blink. 1/8" thick and hockey-puck hard. And I thought, "geez...! if that had been my arm..."

Quote from other forum - here for context - I'd just asked her if she'd sell it. Frank, The broken tile saw is yours for shipping if you want? I can't use it. I'm keeping the MK 303 blade as a back up if I need it for whatever I end up with. I do however have the original blade and another one that I bought before splurging on the MK. Shoot me a pm and I'll figure out the shipping if you still want it....! Lookee what I got -- ...and she threw in the MK blade to boot! Yes! I LOVE IT! and lookee what I cut with it -- DAISY ROCK (some coming your way Krystee) had it locally identified as chrysocola and malichite - let me know if you agree when you see it Krystee please LIMB CAST 1 of 2 - or so I believe - found inside pet wood LIMB CAST 2 of 2 - very translucent PET CORAL 1 of 8 - I think - you think? Bought as a Montana agate (true) while making up bulk weight PET CORAL 2 of 8 PET CORAL 3 of 8 PET CORAL 4 of 8 PET CORAL 5 of 8 PET CORAL 6 of 8 PET CORLAL 7 of 8 PET CORAL 8 of 8 I think I like cutting rock more than I like cabbing rock. Weird huh? It's just such a thrill every time I look inside a rock and see something no human eyes have seen before (or very unlikely at least). The things that God and earth create are nothing short of miracles to me. Anyway THANK YOU KRYSTEE, you are numero uno on my list of most awesome people ever - you just made my life so much better - I haven't adequate words (that's why I'm sending rock - nothing says 'you are awesome' like rock right?) And thank you to anyone who ventures here for looking!

Oh, p.s. it WAS a bad switch - I soldered it to permanently 'on' (couldn't find a spare that would fit the waterproof rubber bubble) and put a switch near the plug.
Sweet!
