Bought this as part of an estate sale. It leaves a very blue streak on concrete. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Scott

looks like lapis to me too!
lapis can have white inclusions and pyrite

Beautiful rock and very nice find in the estate material you received. Agree that it may be Lapis Lazuli. Lapis has a blue streak from what I've read.

To me it's looks more like dumortierite in quartz but I guess the pyrite makes it more likely lapis but then dumortierite is called "desert lapis" so the two would look a lot alike in pictures. Lapis is about mohs 5.5 though and dumortierite is closer to 6.5-7. Never seen pyrite in any of my desert lapis specimens..Mel
