My husband and I had a lovely night out last night and I woke up in a wrapping mood. (We don't get out much these days.) The deschutes is fast becoming one of my personal favorites. I wish I had taken before patina pictures and after. The patina made all the difference with it. The chert is a really cool shape to wrap. I was talking to my brother and messed up. The bail was supposed to come off the top left tip. I left it as is though. Didn't feel like doing it again. I did another wrap, but I chipped the thin stone in finishing it and have to get Gene out to fix the corner.

Tela, those are PHENOMENAL wraps! Wow! I ordered a bunch of copper square wire, and I think I ordered them too thick because they are VERY hard to bend. Looking at yours, now I wish I got round...

Helen, I tend to stick with 20 round soft and then I twist them in my pinvise on my thigh about 30-40 times. This makes them about 1/2 h. 22 in copper is generally too soft for my liking (I like bigger stones). I don't use much square at all but when I do, it is generally 20 soft and quite easy to bend.
I wonder if your supplier is just a little stiffer than others. I have found a difference between suppliers. There is no set criteria for soft or hard, I don't think. Rio has been very consistent and I stick with them for the bulk of my wire.

I'll second Randy's "bad ass". Love your work! Am I sensing a slight HR Giger influence in your work? Attachments:
