A member sent me a box of rocks in exchange for a sphere made earlier this year. I've had a rough year so far personally and it took me forever to make. Not once did this person contact me to inquire about the length of time it was taking (probably thought I had taken him). I felt terrible but I just wanted to make the comment, that its been my experience with little exception, that those who are drawn to this area of interest are some of the greatest folks I've met, and have yet to meet! The first sphere was the one I finally finished. I forgot what kind of jasper it is. The other three are partial petoskey stone ones.

You sure do not have a problem with your polishing process. You could call them glow balls. Very nice work. Jim

Awesome spheres, you definitely have the polish phase dialed in. Can you post a pic of the coral spheres? I picked up some material to make one in Tucson last winter and like yourself life is getting in the way. Hopefully this will motivate me.
Thanks,
Tim

I really like the material. Its tougher to cut out with all the limestone around it or whatever it is, but once you get it out, it takes an awesome shine and has a lot of character.

Those are simply gorgeous! You really do have it down, they are just beautiful! As for the time it took you to get to it, I'm pretty sure most of the people on this forum (probably most rock people, as well) understand about life getting in the way. For that lucky person, I'm sure it was well worth waiting for! Jean

I keep coming back to take another look... The first one is beyond words beautiful, but I just can't believe the shine you got on the Petoskey stones, too! Jean

Jim, those spheres are insane - it's apparent you rock AND roll! The polish is so nice I want to go bowling with them! Except I could never throw stones so nice! Great selection - great polish!

Thanks for all the kind words! I learned everything I know from the good folks I've met online. One from this forum suggested using leather pads for polishing glass to avoid the scratches. I've added that step with my rocks using cerium oxide polish and it's made a nice difference on most.
Petoskey stones can be a pain. But I've found a location near me where I get large dark fossil mix stones with chunks of petoskey mixed in. The darker ones take a great shine. Plus the variety gives them a bit of character. I have some pics of a large one on my website.

Those are great , thanks for sharing the pictures. Are you polishing the petoskey with leather and cerium or a different method on those ones ?
